APC Convention: “Im only running for APC chairman, not president” Modu Sheriff

Says purported zoning of chairmanship position is fake

A former governor of Borno state, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has said he is not interested in the presidency, but the national chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress, (APC).

Sheriff stated this during a media interaction session yesterday, in Abuja, ahead of the partys national convention, slated for February 26.

When told that the party might have zoned the national chairmanship to the North-Central zone, he said the party was yet to come up with any zoning arrangement, adding that he was not the only aspirant from the North-East.

Referring to a media report of him having been edged out of the race, Sheriff said those pushing such a notion were only afraid of him.

He insisted that the purported zoning of the chairmanship position to the North-Central zone was fake.

He said he was the target of the story because all other aspirants are afraid of going into the convention with him.

According to him, he was the target of the story because all other aspirants are afraid of going into the convention with him. He expressed his belief that anyone can be chairman but not everybody has the capacity to be the chairman.

The former Senator insisted that since the leadership of the Party has denied it, the purported zoning is fake.
